Sassafras (Sassafras albidum) isn’t widely known outside of the Ozarks and Appalachia. If I told you that this was one of the original flavorings of root beer, you’ll probably immediately know this plant by smell at least. Sassafras is a traditional cleansing plant and internal medicine. Drinking sassafras tea is a popular springtime tonic still to this day. In this class, we’ll learn why you should always have a cup of sassafras root tea in the spring, how to use this wonderful plant in traditional water cleanses, and we’ll also dispel some myths surrounding the “dangers” of this plant medicine.
